The Hospital Chaplain provides spiritual guidance to medical patients and their families, as well as facility staff members, of various faiths and religious belief systems. The Hospital Chaplain works as part of a team-oriented environment, but they also perform many duties independently.

Responsibilities
Direct Care Responsibilities:
- Crisis Intervention - provide emotional and spiritual support to families, patients, and staff members in the event of death, fatal diagnosis, and other life-changing moments.
- Counsel Patients and Staff - provide counseling services and spiritual guidance to everyone within the hospital. Available to answer questions regarding end-of-life concerns and other spiritual issues while maintaining confidentiality regarding all consultations and counseling sessions.
- Perform Rituals - organize, conduct and assist in spiritual rituals, such as the administration of the last rites or other rituals as requested. Pray with patients, families, and staff members, and sometimes perform certain rituals outside of the hospital, as appropriate.
- Conduct Rounds - conduct regular rounds of hospital units where critically ill patients are treated, such as the intensive care unit. Available to meet/ round on any patient as requested by medical/ nursing providers
- Debriefing - organize and conduct debriefings after traumatic events to ensure the psychological and spiritual safety of staff members.
Qualifications
Education:
- Current Master of Divinity student in a theological seminary OR Bachelor's degree in theology, psychology, or counseling
Experience:
- 6 months of supervised pastoral ministry
