Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Circulation Supervisor in the Charles C. Myers Library.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage routine elements of the library collections accessible to the public
  • Oversee daily functioning of library public spaces in coordination with the Director of the Library
  • Manage library patron information
  • Maintain collection shelf order in coordination with the Technical Services Department
  • Manage physical and electronic reserves including serving as a liaison to faculty for reserve requests
  • Manage overdue notices and coordinate billing for lost material with the Business Office
  • Recruit, train, and supervise student employees to assist in the areas of circulation, reserves, reference, copying and other public service areas
  • Develop and manage a schedule for student employees
  • Assess, evaluate, and revise circulation policies and procedures on a regular basis
  • Assist the Director of the Library with scheduling schedule library hours and communicate them to the University community
  • Assist in overseeing the safety and security of the University community and the library facility
  • Communicate and enforce library policies and procedures related to the use of collections, services, and facilities
  • Maintain designated web content on select platforms up to date on informational and procedural changes related to library hours, privileges, and services
  • Participate in library planning and library committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission

Position Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Library experience, especially in circulation, preferred
  • Prior experience in working in an academic environment, preferred
