The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
Your Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Student - Assembly Manufacturing for John Deere Dubuque Works located in Dubuque, Iowa, you will :
- Assist in Continuous Improvement projects and work alongside engineering groups
- Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas of limited scope
- Work with electronic engineering tools to perform engineering functions
- Provide support and basic trouble shooting for current operations.
This position is not available to students on immigration visas
What Skills You Need
- Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology; others may apply.
- Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. local accredited college/university
- Graduation date of Spring of 2027 or later.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
- Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly.
- Available to work during the summer semester 30-40 hours/weekly.
- Must be able to commute to the work location in Dubuque, Iowa, on a daily basis year-round.

The Dubuque Works manufactures backhoe loaders, crawler dozers, and skid steer loaders for the construction industry and knuckleboom loaders and tracked feller bunchers for the forestry industry. The Dubuque Works also serves as the Center of Excellence for the C&F Division in the areas of Product Engineering, Product Verification and Validation, Supply Management, and Product Support which includes the Dealer Technical Assistance Center. From a manufacturing perspective, the core competencies of the factory include plate and sheet cutting, machining, welding, paint, and assembly.
