Position Summary

**Adult Summer and Fall Softball League Operations require performing duties: Sundays-Fridays 5:30-10:30 p.m.
 
GENERAL SUMMARY: Conduct adult softball league recreation activities with the City of Dubuque, taking into account the needs and interests of individual members; and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

JOB DUTIES:

  • Serve as onsite coordinator/supervisor; and umpire on occasion.
  • Fill out score cards for umpires.
  • Collect nightly scores.
  • Close and lock bathrooms, press boxes, and entrance gates each night.
  • Maintain park cleanliness.
  • Communicate with Recreation Supervisor regarding staff issues, softball complaints, and decisions made regarding the program or staff.
  • Attend summer and fall captain's meetings.
  • Update the rain-out hotline on game days after 5:00 pm.
  • Assist the concessions workers on occasion when needed.
  • Greet customers, patrons, or visitors.
  • Respond to patron comments, questions, and concerns.
  • Administer first-aid to participants, or call for assistance.
  • Enforce rules or regulations.
  • Promote products, services, or programs.
  • Gather information in order to provide services to clients.

 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 

  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Service Orientation - Looking for ways to help people.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and background of ASA softball rules/regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an outdoor setting under extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, etc.
